HIGHLIGHTS
Arakel Melikian graduated from a government college in Constantinople, and became a lawyer then a judge's assistant. He married Sofe Aykanian and had one daughter and three sons, two of whom were killed in the Genocide. He had seven grandchildren, one of whom left Armenia to work in the United States on the railroad in 1911, one of whom was bayoneted by Turkish police after being accused of desertion from the army, and one of whose wife and children were deported and died en route in the desert.
